New to apprenticeships? Read our guideWhy Consider an Apprenticeship?
Not everyone wants to spend 3 or 4 years in a classroom before starting their career. That is where apprenticeships come in. They let you earn a stipend while learning on the job, picking up real skills that employers actually care about. In India, these programs are regulated under the Apprentices Act 1961 and backed by government schemes like NAPS (National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme) and NATS (National Apprenticeship Training Scheme). You will find them in manufacturing, IT, healthcare, retail, automotive, and many other industries.
What makes apprenticeships different from a regular degree is that you get hands-on experience from day one. You work at an actual company, receive a monthly stipend, and build practical skills that look great on your resume. Many apprentices even get a full-time job offer when they finish. Programs usually run from 6 months to 3 years depending on the trade and company. The government recognises over 500 designated and optional trades, so there really is something for every background.
Big names like Tata, Maruti Suzuki, Bosch, Siemens, L&T, and Infosys all run apprenticeship programs, and so do thousands of smaller companies. Whether you have passed Class 10, completed an ITI, hold a diploma, or have an engineering degree, there is an apprenticeship track that fits. Browse the programs below to find one that matches what you are looking for.
