Teacher
EducationAbout This Career
Teaching might not always make headlines, but it is the one profession that shapes every other profession. In India, teachers work across a huge range of settings, from government primary schools in rural villages to elite private institutions in cities, coaching centres, and university lecture halls. A typical day involves planning lessons, delivering classes, evaluating student work, and often spending extra time with students who need additional support. To teach at the school level, you need a B.Ed degree along with clearing exams like CTET or state TETs. College and university positions require a Master's degree and UGC NET qualification. Government school teachers enjoy solid job security, pensions, and regular vacations, while private school salaries can vary widely. The NEP 2020 reforms are pushing for more trained and qualified educators, which is raising the bar for the profession. Career growth can lead to becoming a vice-principal, principal, or moving into educational administration and curriculum design. The real reward, though, is watching your students grow and knowing you played a part in their success.
